Hudson Valley Wedding Photographer — Documentary & Photojournalistic Style
As a sociologist by study and a photographer by training, I bring more than 25 years of experience to wedding photography in the Hudson Valley and throughout Upstate New York, the Berkshires, the Catskills, and beyond. My work blends classic and modern techniques with a strong emphasis on documentary and photojournalistic storytelling — creating images that feel natural, honest, and deeply human.
A Documentary Approach to Your Wedding Day
In my approach to wedding photography, I seek to transcend the usual sentimental sameness often seen in wedding photography in order to capture the uniqueness of each person and of each moment (a client’s words, not mine). To me, a photo needs to reflect the feeling of an authentic moment, and I strive to do this by focusing on how the day expressively unfolds on its own.
It is always my goal to bring those moments back to you in a way that tells the story of your own experience and feelings, while also capturing the moments that you didn’t even know existed, while doing it in a way where you didn’t even know I was there.
I look forward to the challenge of bringing this unique and dedicated style your wedding.
Rooted in Human Rights Photography
Outside of weddings, my long-term work centers on human rights issues, with exhibitions across the United States and around the world. I frequently travel to speak about the intersection of photography, justice, and humanity.
Why mention this here? Because for me, the connection between human rights work and wedding photography is simple: love is a human right. As Dostoevsky wrote, “beauty will save the world.” I approach every wedding with that sentiment at heart — balancing emotion, truth, and beauty through the lens of my camera.
